The safety of people taking part in the Parade is our primary concern and we would ask all drivers to co-operate with our Parade Marshals.

Whilst the Carnival Parade is in progress, there will be some disruption to traffic along the route of the procession. This will occur between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm. Hopefully the information below will help to avoid any unnecessary delays.

To minimise disruption, we operate a rolling road closure arrangement. Once the carnival procession has safely cleared each section of the route, our parade marshals will remove road closure signs to allow the flow of traffic to continue.

Bayley Street

To enable the Parade to assemble, a section of Bayley Street will be closed to traffic between the junction of High St and the entrance to the Recycling Centre between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Side streets such as Peel Street and Bridge Street will also be affected. These roads will be closed to vehicles other than those associated with the parade or those wishing to gain access to properties within the immediate area.

Bayley Street will not be accessible from High Street via these routes.

Access to and from the Recycling Centre will be gained by entering Bayley Street from the Clarence Street end. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Park Street

Between the hours of 9:00 pm and 5:00 pm Park Street traffic will be restricted allowing access only to the Cheetham Mill complex. The entrance to Cheetham Park will be closed to non-Carnival traffic during these hours.

A parking restriction will also be in place to ensure the area is kept clear for emergency vehicle access. Only official vehicles including traders & exhibitors will be allowed access to the park.

When the Parade starts at 1:00 pm the following roads will be subject to some full or partial closure: -

High Street and roads adjoining, Acres Lane, Trinity Street (including entrance to and exit from Tesco, Armentieres Square, Waterloo Rd, Market Street, Water Street, Caroline St.
